Queen Elizabeth II is lucky enough to be a Marley. She descends from Elizabeth Marley the heiress [ see Marley-760]. She is the direct ancestor of Claude Bowes-Lyon [ Bowes-Lyon-4] the late Queen Mother's father.

There is only one Marley or Marlay with an entry in the British Oxford Dictionary of National Biography. It is Marley-631, a nun, Hilda Gertrude Marley a noted 20c. child psychologist in Glasgow.

I am the Co-ordinator & descend from the Teesdale Marleys by my grandmother. I first became interested in the Marleys about 40 years ago when I was given a photocopy oof Thomas W. Marley's book "The Marleys of Langton, Ingleton & Houghton-le-Side in Co. Durham" It was published in 1921& comprises of 13 pages of narrative & 8 pages of pedigrees. I am happy to send a copy of both the narrative & pedigrees to any members who are interested. If you are send me a private message telling me why & I will oblige.
